So, we’ve covered the non-surgical procedures that we suggest after you hit 60 (laser resurfacing, chemical peels, HA fillers, neuromodulators, and PRP injections), but the best is yet to come! If you’re wanting something a little more dramatic, it will require a more invasive treatment. Surgery might seem daunting, but not to worry – going under the knife is perfectly safe AND effective when you’re in the hands of a licensed professional.

In 2022, there are an abundance of anti-aging treatments available to you that can restore lost volume, create contour, and add fullness in all the right places. Options such as fillers, fat transfers, and chemical peels aren’t just for the TikTok crowd. All of these treatments can be used to help you achieve the look you desire. If you don’t know where to start, we’ve compiled a list of what we’ve found to be the top 5 most effective treatments for kicking that dull skin to the curb in your 60s.

1. Minimally Invasive Neck Rejuvenation

We can pinch, poke, and stretch our faces until there isn’t a wrinkle in sight, but if we neglect the neck, all that work you’ve done to achieve that youthful appearance goes down the drain. In many cases, necks are the areas that show signs of aging the most, likely because we don’t treat our necks with the same care that we treat our faces with. If you don’t want to undergo a full blown neck lift, then a neck rejuvenation treatment such as FaceTite or MyEllevate is a perfect option for you. These minimally invasive treatments can help tighten your skin and replenish your youthful glow.

FaceTite is a one-step process that tightens the skin using radio frequency energy. Heat from the radio frequency waves causes skin to contract and melts away excess fat. This will help stimulate new collagen grown in the deep layers of your skin.

MyEllevate is another one-step procedure that uses tiny incisions to model and shape structures beneath your skin. The treatment uses a light guided permanent suture system to weave a matrix underneath the skin that lifts and supports the muscles underneath.

Both of these procedures will require some recovery time, but the results are incredibly effective and don’t require the downtime that a typical neck lift would. These two procedures work beautifully in combination.

2. Facial Fat Transfer

As we know, our bodies go through lots of changes as we age. One of those changes that is inevitable is the loss and descent of facial fat. Often this loss of volume is replaced with injectable fillers which work great but have to be done usually 1-2 times per year and can often require multiple syringes of filler and a significant investment. But if fillers aren’t for you, then a facial fat transfer might be a good option for you.

Facial fat transfer, more commonly known as fat grafting, is a natural way to restore the appearance of youth to your face without the need for a more invasive medical procedure. Because the treatment starts with gently removing fat from a part of your body that has excess fat, the advantages of this procedure are two-fold!

The fat that is removed is cleaned, leaving behind whole, undamaged fat cells, and these are precisely injected into parts of your face that need more volume.

Many women over 60 find that this is the most suitable and effective option for them because it provides natural-looking results that can last much longer than injectable fillers.

3. Facelift

While a facelift is one of the more invasive procedures on this list, a study done by the Cleveland Clinic actually showed that, with proper screening and tests, there is no increased risk for people over the age of 65. In fact, some would say that the optimal age for this surgery is between 40 and 60, when deeper lines and wrinkles start to form on the lower face and neck.

Facelifts can correct sagging cheeks, excess skin along the lower jawline (jowls), deeping folds in around the smile lines, and excess skin around the neck that may look like a double chin, all signs of aging that we can expect after 40.

There are several different types of facelifts, so it is important that you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see which procedure will be best for you and allow yourself plenty of time to recover after this surgery.

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, we all want fantastic results with minimal downtime and recovery. Unfortunately, amazing results often require significant investment and no treatment is more impactful than a surgical facelift.

4. Eyelid Lift

As you age, your eyelids stretch, and the muscles supporting them weaken. Also, excess fat can gather above and below your eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids and bags under your eyes. In addition to having a droopy, tired looking appearance, this sagging can also limit your peripheral vision.

An eyelid lift, medically known as a blepharoplasty, can correct the droopy eyelid look, and make your eyes appear brighter, bigger, and more rested. Recovery usually takes 10-14 days, but the results are long-lasting and most patients that have this procedure done report overall satisfaction with the outcome.

Although it is surgery, this is one of the easiest surgeries to recover from and one that can make significant improvements in the appearance of the area around the eyes.

5. Lip Lift

I think most everyone knows that one particular headache that comes with aging is losing volume in our lips. In addition, as we age, the length between the nose and the lip elongates and less of the pink lip shows, creating a less youthful appearance to the mouth. However, many mature women don’t want the overdone look that is commonly associated with lip fillers. While we don’t recommend overfilling lips with injectables, if lip volume or shape is a concern of yours, we recommend looking into a subnasal lip lift. This procedure shortens the space between the nose and the top of the lip, known as the “philtrum.” By doing this, it increases the amount of pink tissue that’s visible which makes the lips look fuller and more pronounced. It also increases how much of your upper central teeth show when your lips are resting.

Lip lifts aren’t a one size fits all option – there are several different ways that this surgery can be performed to provide a customized outcome to meet your specific goals. This procedure can even be done in the office under local anesthesia in most cases!
