About Thighplasty

A Thighplasty procedure can assist patients with inner thigh fat that cannot be reduced by diet and exercise alone. Along with excision, this procedure may also utilize liposuction to give the thighs a smoother and more sculpted appearance. Thighplasty is not a weight loss surgery. This surgery is for those who have reached their ideal weight, but are unhappy with the way their thighs look.

Procedure

A thighplasty takes about two to three hours and is typically performed under general anesthesia. To begin, Dr. Buchanan will make an incision into your thigh according to the type of lift you have agreed upon. Using this incision, he will remove small amounts of fat deposits and skin by excision. If your case requires liposuction, he will make a tiny incision into the thigh to remove fat using a small tube called a cannula. Once the excess fat and small tissue have been removed, he will pull the skin taut in order to reshape and tighten the thighs, leaving your legs with a smoother appearance. The incisions are then closed with sutures. In some cases, he may place drains in order to prevent fluid accumulation.

Alternatives to Surgery

Before proceeding with a thigh lift in Tampa, some patients choose to undergo liposuction beforehand. While liposuction may break down and get rid of fat cells, it does not get rid of loose skin. Liposuction may actually cause the skin to become looser. A thigh lift is the most effective way to get rid of loose skin.

How Much Does a Thigh Lift Cost? Prices starting at $10,000

Typically, health insurance companies do not cover Tampa thigh lift surgery because it is a cosmetic enhancement procedure. Several factors can impact the cost of the surgery, such as:

  • The surgeon's experience and overall reputation, because surgeons with many years of experience or a high reputation may charge more for their services
  • The surgical technique used by the surgeon and the complexity of the case can influence the cost
  • Finally, the location of your surgeon's practice can also affect the cost, as larger cities generally have higher operational costs

The total cost of the procedure may include:

  • Anesthesia fees
  • Operating room expenses
  • Post-op compression garments
  • Surgeon fees

Other fees not included in the cost may include blood tests, pre-operative testing, medical clearance exams, and prescription medications. If you are interested in a thigh lift but have financial concerns, you can talk to Dr. Buchanan or one of the VIVIFY staff members about financing options. We are committed to working with each patient by offering financing plans to help you achieve your surgical goals.
