Blepharoplasty, commonly known as an eyelid lift, is a procedure that improves the appearance of the eyes by revitalizing and correcting either the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
What Will My Recovery Look Like?
After your eyelid surgery in Tampa, your eyes will be covered with gauze; in some cases, they may be loosely taped up to keep the desired shape intact. Moderate to severe swelling is expected, as well as bruising, dry eyes, and general discomfort, which can be mitigated with cold compresses and medication prescribed by Dr. Buchanan prior to the surgery. Eyeglasses can be worn after the gauze is removed. However, we recommend waiting at least two weeks before wearing contact lenses. You may experience some sensitivity to light. It’s helpful to keep a pair of dark sunglasses accessible when exposed to the sun or other light sources. Swelling can last up to six weeks but usually subsides rapidly within the first week, and bruising is usually gone by 1-2 weeks. Patients can expect to see their final results six weeks post-surgery.
