What Is Restylane®?

Restylane® is a dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in every person's body that helps to keep our skin plump. It safely and effectively restores volume, smooths wrinkles, and enhances facial features for a more plump, youthful contour to your complexion. Restylane® is typically used to target wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and nose and add volume to the cheeks and lips. Restylane was one of the first HA dermal fillers launched in the United States.

How It Works

Hyaluronic acid filler is a gel-like substance injected into the body and binds to water molecules, effectively hydrating and plumping the skin. Our skin loses volume and becomes less supple as we age and have environmental exposures such as UV rays, causing wrinkles, sagging, and hollowed areas to form. Restylane® works by replacing lost volume and stimulating the production of new collagen, which helps to improve skin elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and restore a more hydrated appearance to the skin. The gel is injected into the targeted areas using a fine needle or cannula, where it immediately begins to restore volume and smooth out the surface of your skin.

Treatment Areas

Restylane® treats a variety of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Vertical lip lines
  • Thin or uneven lips
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Under-eye bags and dark circles
  • Marionette lines (lines that run from the corners of your mouth to your chin)
  • Cheeks and jawline

Who Is a Candidate?

Restylane® is an effective treatment for anyone who would like to minimize fine lines and wrinkles in their skin, restore volume, and enhance their facial features. Ideal candidates should be in good overall health. During your consultation, our board-certified nurse practitioner, Michelle Buchanan, will evaluate your skin and discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals to determine your candidacy for Restylane® in Tampa. Michelle has years of experience in aesthetic medicine, and she is dedicated to providing personalized care to help you achieve your desired results.

What to Expect During Restylane® Treatment

During your treatment, our board-certified clinician will carefully inject the Restylane® gel into the targeted areas outlined during your consultation to help you achieve your desired results. The treatment is quick and minimally invasive, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort during the procedure that can be minimized with a topical anesthetic.

One of the benefits of Restylane® is that you'll see results almost immediately after your treatment. You may notice that your wrinkles are less noticeable, and your skin appears smoother and more youthful. The results of Restylane® can last for several months, and in some cases, up to a year or more. Schedule a consultation with Michelle today to determine if Restylane® injections can enhance your look.
